Cyber Security Fundamentals for Business Teams

Most breaches begin with an ordinary employee making a reasonable decision on incomplete information. Cyber security is translated into business language here, so managers and staff outside IT can recognise a threat, ask a supplier a harder question, and act correctly in the minutes that matter.

What you will be able to do

  • Describe the common attack methods used against South African organisations in plain business terms.
  • Recognise phishing, business email compromise and invoice fraud attempts before acting on them.
  • Apply sound password, authentication and device practices across work and personal use.
  • Assess the security risk introduced by a new supplier, application or cloud service.
  • Outline the obligations created by the Cybercrimes Act 19 of 2020 for reporting certain offences.
  • Report a suspected incident promptly using the correct internal channel and detail.
