Occupational Health Programme Management

Occupational health obligations extend beyond a first aid room to include medical surveillance schedules, exposure based referrals and coordination with an occupational health practitioner or clinic. This course covers designing a medical surveillance programme aligned to actual workplace hazards, managing return to work processes and keeping health records confidential while still available for audit.

What you will be able to do

  • Design a medical surveillance programme aligned to the hazards identified on site.
  • Coordinate referrals to an occupational health practitioner based on exposure monitoring results.
  • Manage confidentiality of health records while keeping them available for legitimate audit.
  • Develop a return to work programme for employees recovering from injury or illness.
  • Explain the employer's duties around notifiable occupational diseases.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of an occupational health programme using trend data.
