Occupational Driving and Road Risk Management

For many African organisations the greatest single safety risk is not the plant but the road, where sales reps, technicians, delivery crews and executives cover thousands of kilometres on demanding routes. This course treats work related road risk as an occupational health and safety issue rather than a fleet cost, covering journey management, driver fitness and post crash response. It helps employers meet their duty of care to everyone who drives for work.

What you will be able to do

  • Frame work related road risk as a duty of care for the employer.
  • Assess road risk across drivers, vehicles, journeys and routes.
  • Apply journey management to reduce night, fatigue and distance exposure.
  • Manage driver fitness, fatigue, distraction and impairment.
  • Set vehicle condition and safety feature standards for the task.
  • Investigate crashes and near misses to prevent recurrence.
