Managing Emergency and Urgent Procurement

Floods, breakdowns, stockouts and disasters force African organisations into urgent buying where the normal process cannot keep pace, and this is exactly where control and value most often break down. This course prepares procurement teams to respond fast while keeping decisions defensible, competitive and free of fraud. Delegates learn to build emergency procurement procedures that balance speed with accountability.

What you will be able to do

  • Distinguish genuine emergencies from poor planning dressed as urgency.
  • Design emergency procurement procedures and delegated authority.
  • Source quickly while preserving competition and value where possible.
  • Maintain records and audit trails under time pressure.
  • Prevent fraud and abuse in urgent and disaster purchasing.
  • Review emergency purchases and feed lessons back into planning.
