Low, Medium and High Voltage Circuit Breaker Maintenance

Circuit breakers must interrupt fault currents reliably to protect people and equipment across the full voltage range. This course covers the operation, testing and maintenance of breakers from low voltage panels to high voltage substations. Delegates learn to keep switching devices dependable in tough African operating environments.

What you will be able to do

  • Compare breaker technologies across low, medium and high voltage
  • Explain arc interruption and operating mechanisms
  • Perform timing, contact resistance and insulation tests
  • Service operating mechanisms and interlocks safely
  • Diagnose breaker faults and mechanism failures
  • Plan maintenance intervals based on duty and condition

Course outline

  1. 01Breaker types and applications
  2. 02Arc interruption principles
  3. 03Operating mechanisms and interlocks
  4. 04Timing and contact resistance testing
  5. 05Insulation testing
  6. 06Mechanism servicing
