Job Safety Analysis and Point of Work Risk Assessment

Broad site risk assessments rarely match the exact task a crew faces on the day, which is where job safety analysis and a quick point of work check close the gap. This course teaches how to break a task into steps, spot the hazard in each step and agree controls before work starts, then re-check when conditions change. It uses real maintenance, construction and operational tasks so participants practise on work they recognise.

What you will be able to do

  • Distinguish job safety analysis from broad hazard identification and risk assessment.
  • Break a task into logical steps and identify the hazard in each step.
  • Select practical controls and record them in a usable job safety analysis.
  • Lead a point of work risk check with the crew before starting a task.
  • Recognise changed conditions that require the assessment to be redone.
  • Involve workers so the analysis reflects how the job is really done.
