JBCC and NEC Contract Administration for Building Projects

Most site disputes on African building projects trace back to standard form contract clauses that were signed but never actively administered. This course takes participants through the day to day administration of JBCC and NEC contracts, covering payment certificates, variations, notices and record keeping. It builds the discipline that protects both employer and contractor when programmes slip and money is tight.

What you will be able to do

  • Compare the structure and philosophy of the JBCC and NEC contract families.
  • Issue payment certificates, variation orders and instructions correctly.
  • Track early warnings, notices and time bars within contractual deadlines.
  • Administer retention, guarantees and penalties without exposing the parties.
  • Maintain a defensible contract file for claims and audits.
  • Close out accounts and finalise the contract at practical completion.
