Inventory and Warehouse Optimisation

Working capital tied up in slow moving stock is one of the quietest drains on South African operations. This programme shows delegates how to classify inventory, set defensible stock levels, control critical spares and run a warehouse that supports rather than obstructs production. Calculations are done on delegates' own figures.

What you will be able to do

  • Classify inventory by value, usage and criticality so that control effort is directed where it matters.
  • Calculate reorder points, safety stock and order quantities using demand and lead time variability.
  • Set stocking policies for critical spares where failure cost outweighs holding cost.
  • Improve forecast quality and measure forecast accuracy over time.
  • Design warehouse layout, slotting and picking routines that reduce handling time and error rates.
  • Implement cycle counting and stock accuracy measures that reduce reliance on annual counts.
