IFRS Technical Update and Application

Financial reporting standards change frequently, and preparers who fall behind risk qualified audit opinions or restated financial statements. This course brings accountants and auditors up to date with recent and upcoming IFRS requirements relevant to South African reporters, focusing on practical application to revenue, leases, financial instruments and impairment rather than theory alone, using realistic local company examples.

What you will be able to do

  • Summarise recent amendments to IFRS relevant to South African preparers.
  • Apply IFRS 15 principles to complex revenue recognition arrangements.
  • Account for leases correctly under IFRS 16 from a lessee perspective.
  • Classify and measure financial instruments under IFRS 9.
  • Perform impairment assessments on goodwill, property and financial assets.
  • Prepare disclosure notes that meet current IFRS requirements.
