Harmonic Analysis and Filter Design for Industrial Networks

Industrial plants filled with drives, converters and furnaces generate harmonics that overheat equipment and disturb sensitive controls. This programme takes delegates deeper into harmonic behaviour, measurement and filter design than a general power quality overview. The emphasis is on modelling a real network and specifying filters that work.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain how harmonic currents arise from nonlinear industrial loads.
  • Measure and quantify harmonics at key points in a plant network.
  • Model harmonic flow and identify resonance conditions.
  • Design tuned and detuned filters for specific harmonic orders.
  • Evaluate the effect of filters on power factor and network behaviour.
  • Verify filter performance after installation through measurement.
