The excitation system decides a generator's voltage, its share of reactive power and much of its stability, yet it is often the least understood part of the machine. This course explains how excitation and automatic voltage regulation work, how they are set up and how they are diagnosed when a machine misbehaves. Delegates leave able to interpret excitation settings and take part in commissioning and fault finding.

Transformers are the backbone of every substation and industrial power supply across Africa...
Oil filled transformers and cables develop faults that reveal themselves through gases dissolved in the insulating oil long before failure.
Senior engineers running large industrial and utility electrical systems need a deep grasp of power engineering beyond the basics.
