Formwork, Falsework and Temporary Works Management

Temporary works carry permanent loads for a short but critical time, and their collapse is one of the more devastating failures on any site. This course helps site teams plan, check and control formwork, falsework and other temporary structures on South African building and civil works. The focus is on design intent, inspection and the discipline of loading and striking at the right time.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain the role and risks of temporary works on construction sites.
  • Read temporary works designs and understand the loading assumptions.
  • Inspect formwork and falsework against the design and drawings.
  • Control the loading, propping and striking sequence of concrete works.
  • Apply the temporary works coordinator role and permit discipline.
  • Record inspections and manage changes to temporary works.
