Fleet and Transport Cost Management

Transport is often the single largest controllable cost in a Southern African supply chain, driven by fuel prices, toll fees, vehicle downtime and route inefficiency. This course gives supply chain and transport professionals practical tools to model transport costs, benchmark carrier rates, plan efficient routes and manage owned or outsourced fleets to reduce total delivered cost.

What you will be able to do

  • Break down total transport cost into its component drivers.
  • Benchmark carrier and third party logistics rates against market norms.
  • Plan delivery routes that reduce mileage and vehicle idle time.
  • Evaluate the cost trade offs between owned and outsourced fleets.
  • Apply fuel and maintenance cost controls to reduce fleet expenditure.
  • Negotiate transport contracts that balance cost, service and reliability.
