First Aid and Emergency Medical Response in the Workplace
When someone collapses on a factory floor or a labourer is injured on a remote site, the minutes before an ambulance arrives decide the outcome. This course builds practical first responder confidence in wound care, CPR, shock management and the handling of common industrial injuries, using scenarios drawn from South African workplaces where emergency services can be slow to reach the scene. Delegates also learn how to stock, maintain and audit a workplace first aid box that matches the site's risk profile.
What you will be able to do
Assess an emergency scene for danger and prioritise casualties using a structured approach.
Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and use an automated external defibrillator with confidence.
Manage bleeding, burns, fractures and shock until professional help arrives.
Respond to workplace specific emergencies such as chemical exposure, electric shock and heat exhaustion.
Stock and maintain first aid facilities appropriate to the number of employees and the site hazards.
Record injuries accurately and hand over clearly to arriving emergency medical services.
