Ergonomics and Manual Handling in the Workplace

Musculoskeletal disorders build up over months of poor workstation design and repetitive lifting long before they show up as a compensation claim. This course covers workstation assessment for office and production environments, manual handling risk assessment, task rotation design and the practical adjustments that reduce strain without requiring a full equipment replacement budget.

What you will be able to do

  • Assess a workstation for ergonomic risk in both office and production settings.
  • Conduct a manual handling risk assessment covering load, posture, frequency and environment.
  • Recommend practical adjustments that reduce strain within a realistic budget.
  • Design task rotation and rest break schedules that reduce cumulative injury risk.
  • Explain the link between ergonomic hazards and musculoskeletal compensation claims.
  • Train supervisors to recognise early signs of musculoskeletal strain among their teams.
