Emergency Response Team and Incident Command

When a serious incident strikes, the first minutes are shaped by whoever is on site, and a trained emergency response team is the difference between a controlled scene and chaos. This course builds the capability to organise, equip and lead an on-site emergency team using an incident command structure. Scenarios cover fires, spills, injuries, entrapment and evacuation across industrial, mining and commercial sites in the region.

What you will be able to do

  • Structure an emergency response team with clear roles and a chain of command.
  • Apply an incident command system to coordinate a developing emergency.
  • Assess a scene rapidly and set priorities that protect life first.
  • Coordinate on-site responders with municipal fire, medical and rescue services.
  • Manage communication, resources and casualty movement during an incident.
  • Run realistic exercises and debrief them to strengthen the team.
