Digital Forensics and Incident Analysis Fundamentals

When a security incident happens, the difference between recovering fully and repeating the mistake often lies in the investigation. This course introduces IT and security staff to the fundamentals of digital forensics and incident analysis, from preserving evidence to reconstructing what happened. Delegates practise on realistic case scenarios and learn how to keep evidence sound enough to support disciplinary or legal action.

What you will be able to do

  • Preserve digital evidence without altering it during collection.
  • Maintain a chain of custody that withstands legal and disciplinary scrutiny.
  • Reconstruct the timeline of an incident from system and network artefacts.
  • Analyse logs, files and memory to establish what an attacker did.
  • Distinguish forensic investigation from routine incident response.
  • Produce an investigation report that supports informed decisions.
