Cross Docking and Flow Through Distribution Operations

Cross docking moves goods straight from inbound to outbound with little or no storage, cutting handling and speeding delivery, but it demands tight coordination that many African operations underestimate. This course shows distribution teams how to design and run cross docking and flow through operations, from supplier synchronisation to dock scheduling. Delegates learn when cross docking pays off and how to make it work reliably.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain cross docking and flow through models and their benefits.
  • Assess which products and flows suit cross docking.
  • Synchronise inbound and outbound flows to enable flow through.
  • Design dock layout, staging and scheduling for fast transfer.
  • Coordinate suppliers, carriers and information for tight timing.
  • Measure cross dock performance and manage exceptions.
