Credit Control and Debtors Management

Slow paying customers and rising bad debt are a persistent drain on South African businesses, particularly small and medium enterprises with limited cash buffers. This course equips credit and finance staff with practical techniques for assessing customer risk, setting credit terms, managing collections professionally and reducing days sales outstanding, without damaging valuable customer relationships in competitive local markets.

What you will be able to do

  • Assess the creditworthiness of new and existing customers before extending terms.
  • Set credit limits and payment terms appropriate to customer risk profiles.
  • Apply structured follow up processes to overdue accounts.
  • Negotiate payment arrangements that balance recovery with customer retention.
  • Calculate and interpret days sales outstanding and ageing analysis.
  • Escalate problem accounts appropriately, including legal and handover processes.
