Construction Risk Management and Insurance

This course develops a structured approach to identifying, assessing and mitigating risk on construction and infrastructure projects. Participants examine contractor's all risk insurance, performance guarantees and bonds, liability exposures on site, and the practical steps needed to transfer or retain risk sensibly, helping project teams protect margins and avoid disputes before they escalate into costly claims.

What you will be able to do

  • Identify the main categories of risk present on construction and infrastructure projects.
  • Explain the cover typically provided under contractor's all risk insurance policies.
  • Compare performance guarantees, bonds and retention as forms of risk security.
  • Assess liability exposures arising from subcontractor default and site incidents.
  • Develop a project risk register with clear ownership and mitigation actions.
  • Recommend practical risk transfer strategies appropriate to project size and complexity.
