Construction Labour Productivity and Workforce Planning

Labour is often the largest and most variable cost on African building sites, yet many projects run with little measurement of what crews actually produce. This course helps site managers plan, measure and improve labour productivity. It covers work study, crew balancing, incentive schemes and the practical bottlenecks that quietly erode output on busy sites.

What you will be able to do

  • Measure labour output against planned productivity targets.
  • Plan crew sizes and mixes for each work activity.
  • Identify and remove common productivity bottlenecks.
  • Design fair incentive and task work arrangements.
  • Balance labour, plant and materials to sustain flow.
  • Report labour performance to inform decisions and claims.
