Construction Health and Safety Management

South African construction sites carry some of the heaviest safety obligations of any industry, shared between client, principal contractor and every subcontractor on site. Those obligations are worked through from tender stage to handover, using real site scenarios rather than generic examples, so the duties land where they actually bite.

What you will be able to do

  • Map the duties of client, principal contractor and contractor as set out in the Construction Regulations 2014.
  • Compile a health and safety specification and evaluate the health and safety file submitted against it.
  • Manage the high risk activities of excavation, fall protection, scaffolding and lifting operations.
  • Run a permit to work system that controls hot work, confined space entry and energised equipment.
  • Assess subcontractor competence and monitor performance without duplicating their own systems.
  • Conduct site inspections and toolbox talks that change behaviour rather than fill a register.
