Compressed Gas Cylinder Handling and Storage Safety

Compressed gas cylinders are everywhere on industrial sites, workshops and laboratories, yet they are routinely dropped, stored badly and mixed with incompatible gases. This course covers the safe transport, storage, handling and use of oxygen, fuel gases, inert gases and toxic gases in cylinders. Practical guidance suits the workshops, welding bays, laboratories and gas stores common across the region.

What you will be able to do

  • Identify cylinder gases by colour, marking and hazard class.
  • Store cylinders correctly, separating incompatible and full from empty.
  • Move and secure cylinders safely during transport and use.
  • Fit, use and check regulators, valves and hoses correctly.
  • Prevent and respond to leaks, back-flow and cylinder fires.
  • Set up a compliant cylinder store with the right ventilation and controls.
