Commercial Kitchen and Catering Safety Management

Hotel, hospital, mine canteen and contract catering kitchens combine hot oil, sharp blades, gas, wet floors and long shifts, producing burns, cuts and falls that quietly drain productivity. This course addresses the safety of kitchen staff rather than food hygiene alone, covering equipment guarding, gas and fire risk, and the layout that keeps busy service areas safe. Practical checklists let supervisors act the moment they return to site.

What you will be able to do

  • Identify the burn, cut, gas and fall hazards specific to commercial kitchens.
  • Assess cooking, cutting and cleaning equipment for guarding and safe use.
  • Control gas supply, ventilation and grease fire risk in cooking areas.
  • Manage wet floors, manual handling and cold store hazards during service.
  • Establish safe cleaning practice for chemicals and hot surfaces.
  • Build a kitchen safety induction and daily check routine for staff.
