Cold Chain and Perishable Goods Logistics

Moving fresh produce, dairy, meat, pharmaceuticals and frozen goods demands unbroken temperature control from source to shelf. In a region marked by long distances, load shedding and variable infrastructure, cold chain failures translate directly into spoilage and rejected loads. This course gives delegates the practical knowledge to design, monitor and safeguard temperature controlled logistics across South African and cross border routes.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain the principles of temperature controlled logistics for different product classes.
  • Design cold chain routes that hold product integrity from origin to delivery.
  • Monitor temperature and humidity using data loggers and telemetry devices.
  • Manage cold storage, reefer transport and last mile handling to limit spoilage.
  • Respond to cold chain breaks, power interruptions and equipment failures.
  • Apply hygiene and food safety requirements relevant to perishable goods handling.
