Deciding whether to fund a new plant, vehicle fleet or expansion project requires more than gut feel, especially when capital is scarce and financing costs are high. What you will be able to do

  • Distinguish between capital and operating expenditure decisions.
  • Calculate net present value, internal rate of return and payback period for proposed projects.
  • Build a risk adjusted discount rate for projects of differing risk profiles.
  • Conduct sensitivity and scenario analysis on key project assumptions.
  • Compare mutually exclusive projects using consistent appraisal criteria.
  • Prepare a capital investment proposal for presentation to a finance committee.
