Capital Equipment and Project Procurement Management

Procuring plant, machinery and equipment for major projects involves long lead times, large sums and complex technical specifications where mistakes are expensive and public. This course guides delegates through capital procurement from specification and tender to factory acceptance and commissioning. It draws on mining, manufacturing and infrastructure examples common across the region.

What you will be able to do

  • Develop technical and commercial specifications for capital equipment.
  • Structure capital tenders that attract and fairly compare qualified bidders.
  • Manage long lead time orders and progress milestone payments.
  • Plan factory acceptance testing and pre shipment inspection.
  • Coordinate delivery, installation and commissioning with the project plan.
  • Handle warranties, spares provisioning and equipment handover.
