Building Information Modelling (BIM) for Construction Project Teams
This course introduces built environment professionals to Building Information Modelling as a practical coordination tool rather than a purely technical exercise. Participants explore common data environments, model coordination between architectural, structural and services disciplines, clash detection workflows and BIM execution plans, and consider the realistic barriers and benefits of adopting BIM on South African infrastructure and building projects.
What you will be able to do
Explain the core principles and terminology used in Building Information Modelling workflows.
Distinguish between the roles and responsibilities of different disciplines within a common data environment.
Develop a basic BIM execution plan for a building or infrastructure project.
Identify clash detection opportunities across architectural, structural and services models.
Assess the practical barriers to BIM adoption faced by South African contractors and consultants.
Recommend a phased approach for introducing BIM processes into an existing project team.
