Bill of Quantities Preparation and Tender Pricing

A well structured bill of quantities gives every tenderer the same basis to price and gives the employer control during construction, yet poorly drafted bills invite disputes and inflated claims. This course covers preparing bills of quantities from drawings using recognised measurement conventions. Participants also learn how bills are priced, adjusted and used to value work as projects proceed on African sites.

What you will be able to do

  • Structure a bill of quantities using standard measurement conventions.
  • Prepare preambles, preliminaries and measured work sections.
  • Draft clear item descriptions that reduce pricing ambiguity.
  • Support tenderers to price a bill consistently.
  • Use the priced bill to value interim work and variations.
  • Reconcile provisional sums and prime cost items at final account.
