Bill of Materials and Direct Materials Sourcing for Manufacturing
Sourcing direct materials for a factory is a different discipline from buying indirect goods, because every part on the bill of materials must arrive to spec, on time and at the right cost or the line stops. This course equips buyers in African manufacturing to read a bill of materials, plan direct materials procurement, and manage supplier lead times against production schedules. Delegates learn to link sourcing decisions directly to plant output.
What you will be able to do
Read a bill of materials and translate it into procurement requirements.
Plan direct materials sourcing against the production schedule.
Manage supplier lead times, minimum order quantities and buffers.
Balance material cost, quality and continuity of supply.
Coordinate engineering changes and their impact on sourcing.
Manage risk of stockouts and line stoppages for critical parts.
